Then we add a base or screening to provide a stable foundation for the blocks. This base is made of crushed up rocks or sand to ensure the layer below the wall won’t shift and drains properly. Once we have established a foundation we carefully place blocks then level out both side to side and front to back. This leveling process is essential to achieving that seamless and tightly aligned look of a garden border. Lastly we back fill the wall with added soil and rock to hold the blocks into place for long term stability.
